CAUSE
This behavior may occur in the following situation:
- You use a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer to create a Group Policy object that defines the Message text for users attempting to log on policy.
- You open or edit that Group Policy object by using a Windows XP-based computer.
- You log on to the domain from a Windows XP-based computer.
When you define the
Message text for users attempting to log on interactive logon policy in Windows 2000, the corresponding registry value is saved as a
String_SZ value type. However, when you open or edit this policy by using a Windows XP Professional-based computer (where you have installed the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 administration tools), the registry value that the policy modifies is saved as a
String_Multi_SZ value type.
