SYMPTOMS

After you apply Service Pack 1 (SP1) to Microsoft Windows XP Professional, if you ping the host computer by using the hexadecimal Internet Protocol (IP) address, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Ping request could not find host 0xc0a80001. Please check the name and try again.
Note The 0xc0a80001 value may vary according to the hexadecimal IP address that you use.
