XFOR: You Can Set Multi-valued Fields During Directory Synchronization with Lotus Notes - Post SP3 (330525)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q330525

SUMMARY

In both the Active Directory directory service and Lotus Notes, many attributes on the User/mailbox object have multiple values.

In the same way that the ProxyAddresses attribute on an Exchange 2000 mailbox contains multiple addresses for a user, the Shortname field in Lotus Notes can contain multiple addresses.

To map an attribute in Active Directory to the multi-valued Shortname field (for example, to create more than one address in Lotus Notes), you must have the hotfix that this article describes.

The equivalent of the multi-valued attribute in Active Directory can be a single-valued attribute with the values that you want separated by semi-colons (;).

Dirsync mapping tables to perform this task may look similar to the following table:

DXANOTES\AMAP.TBL

  .
  .
  .
Obj       128  ShortName

DXAMEX\AMAP.TBL

  .
  .
  .
Ext       128  extensionattribute1

DXANOTES\MAPMEX.TBL

  .
  .
  .
obj       = ext

DXAMEX\MAPNOTES.TBL

  .
  .
  .
ext       = obj
