FIX: Updates for the Remote Desktop Protocol Component (330505)

SYMPTOMS

This hotfix resolves the following problems:
  • You cannot redirect the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client local port resources to remote programs.
  • The RDP always shows the "wait" pointer if the operating system does not include the mouse pointer component (SYSGEN_CURSOR).
  • You cannot type Far East characters by using the Software Input Panel at the host logon screen.
  • Parts of the RDP session window are not erased and updated when the Auto-Reconnect dialog box appears.
  • The Connect dialog box appears when you switch between local and remote configurations.
  • The RDP client does not warn you of Windows XP hosts earlier than Service Pack 1 (SP1). Some RDP features are not available when you use a Windows XP host earlier than SP1.
  • When you click Cancel in the RDP Connection dialog box, the device starts to log on.
  • If you close an Open dialog box while the Software Input Panel is displayed, there may be blank spaces on the screen (black boxes) in the area where the dialog box appeared.

RESOLUTION

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 4.1 Core OS QFE 330505. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:
