The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth
- Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth 2.0
This article was previously published under Q330358 SYMPTOMS During the installation of the Microsoft Wireless Optical
Desktop for Bluetooth, you may receive an error message similar to the
following when you try to restart your computer:
Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter
setup The computer does not restart as expected. CAUSE This issue occurs because the system BIOS of some computers
does not recognize the Bluetooth keyboard, and therefore it does not detect any keyboard. This condition is recognized as an error, and therefore
the boot sequence quits. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, disable the Halt on
error function in the BIOS. To determine how to access the BIOS and
disable this function, see the manual that was supplied with your computer or
contact the computer manufacturer. If you disable the Halt on
error function in the BIOS, you still receive the error message, but
the computer continues to start. After Microsoft Windows has started, the
Bluetooth devices work as expected. If you cannot disable the
Halt on error function, you can attach a PS/2 keyboard to the
computer to avoid receiving this error message. For information about how to contact your computer
