Two Messenger Icons Are Displayed on the Taskbar and on the Start Menu (330112)

This article was previously published under Q330112 SYMPTOMS After you install MSN Messenger 5.0 or MSN 8.0, you may
experience both of the following:
- When you click Start and then point to
All Programs, both Windows Messenger and
MSN Messenger 5.0 appear in the list of programs.
-and- - A Windows Messenger and a MSN
Messenger icon appear in the notification area at the far right of the
taskbar.
CAUSE Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger are two separate
instant messaging programs.
Windows Messenger is included only with
Windows XP and is installed when you install the Windows XP operating system.
Windows Messenger remains available even after MSN Messenger 5.0 is installed
on your Windows XP-based computer. Note that Windows Messenger is not available
for other versions of Windows.
MSN Messenger 5.0 is included with MSN
8.0 and is also available as a separate download. It is installed on your
computer when you install MSN 8.0 or MSN Messenger 5.0.
Note: If you are running Windows Messenger 4.x and you previously installed the MSN Add-in for Windows
Messenger, you may receive a message to install MSN Messenger
