BUG: Incorrect Results Occur When a Web Service Returns an Array of Size 0 (330065)

SYMPTOMS

If you have a Web service that returns object arrays of size 0, the parameter is not deserialized correctly when the client receives the response.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because deserializer does not deserialize the parameter correctly if the array is empty.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem use an end element for empty arrays as shown in the following code sample:
<soapenc:Array id="id5" soapenc:arrayType="xsd:anyType[0]">
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

STATUS
