Program Can Hang During Communications if Not Setup Correctly (33041)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft QuickBASIC Compiler for the Apple Macintosh 1.0
This article was previously published under Q33041 SUMMARY
QuickBASIC for the Macintosh will hang if there is something wrong
with the serial communications setup, e.g. if the modem is not
connected or the cables are not hooked up correctly, QuickBASIC will hang.
This problem is not associated with QuickBASIC because you cannot
check for the status of the communication port before attempting to
OPEN it through the "COM1:" device name. This problem is a limitation
in the design of the Macintosh hardware and System environment. It is
the responsibility of those using Macintosh equipment to ensure that
the communication setup is correct.
