WD2002: Word Displays an Inserted Multiple Frame TIFF Picture As a Box (329985)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2002

This article was previously published under Q329985

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a multiple frame Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) picture into a new Microsoft Word 2002 document, Word displays the picture as a blank box in the document.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Microsoft Office XP does not correctly interpret the value returned by GDI+ (the graphics device interface for Microsoft Windows XP operating system) for a multiple frame TIFF picture, although GDI+ decodes the value correctly. Fax documents are most frequently converted to multiple frame TIFF pictures (for example, RightFax 7.2 TIFF files).
