File Explorer Shows File as 0 Bytes After Being Copied to FAT Media (329879)

SYMPTOMS

After you copy a file to a folder in the Windows CE RAM file system, the size of the file may appear as 0 bytes until you refresh the File Explorer view (by pressing F5, or by tapping Refresh on the View menu).

CAUSE

Windows CE File Explorer caches folder information until it notified by the file system that the folder information has changed. When this problem occurs, the file system notifies the shell of the new file when the file is created, but does not notify the shell when the file size is updated.

RESOLUTION
