Word Stops Responding (Hangs) When You Try to Edit an Ink Object in Print Preview

You may experience an issue when you insert an ink canvas into a text box. If you then try to activate the canvas from the Print Preview tool in Word 2002 with the Office XP Pack on the Tablet PC, Word 2002 may stop responding.

Ink Canvas in Reply E-Mail Message Pushes Text Off the Screen

When you try to resize an ink canvas in the reply to an HTML e-mail message, it may push the text of the reply off of the screen.

To work around this issue, minimize and then restore the e-mail message to make the text visible again.

Cannot Insert Ink Comments or Drawing or Writing in RTF E-Mail Replies

When you try to include ink writing and comments in an RTF ink mail reply, you may not be able to insert a new ink comment or ink canvas in the e-mail body.

To work around this issue, disable the "Use MS Word to read Rich Text e-mails" feature:
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, tap Options.
  3. In the Options dialog box, tap the Mail Format tab.
  4. Tap to clear the Use MS Word to reach Rich Text e-mail check box, and then tap OK.

Prompt to Save E-mail.dot Message Appears When You Close Rich Text E-Mail Messages

If you try to open an RTF e-mail message with the "Use MS Word to read RTF e-mails" feature enabled and then close the e-mail message, you are prompted to save changes to the Email.dot file.

To work around this issue, disable the "Use MS Word to Read RTF E-mails" feature:
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, tap Options.
  3. In the Options dialog box, tap the Mail Format tab.
  4. Tap to clear the Use MS Word to read Rich Text e-mails check box, and then tap OK.

Switching E-Mail Message Format Does Not Enable Ink Feature Entry Points

When you try to reply to a plain text e-mail message and then change the format to HTML, the inking features are not enabled as you expect in the HTML format e-mail messages.

To enable the inking features, tap a blank space in the body of the message.

Canvas Auto-Scales at Aspect Ratios

When you continue to add ink to the canvas and to expand the size of the canvas, the ink canvas may automatically resize and become smaller.

Ink Object of Ink Comment Is Inserted in a Main Document

When you enter an ink comment in an ink canvas in the Reviewing pane, the canvas may be inserted into the main document.

Ink Image Does Not Appear in Outlook Appointment

When you reply to an HTML e-mail that contains ink with Word as your e-mail editor and then copy and paste the body of the e-mail message into an Outlook appointment, the ink image does not appear in the appointment. To work around this issue, paste an ink e-mail thread into an Outlook appointment:
  1. Reply to the e-mail message with Word set as your default e-mail editor.
  2. Tap a blank space in the body of the e-mail message.
  3. In the Word e-mail editor, tap Select All on the Edit menu.
  4. On the Edit menu, tap Copy.
  5. In Outlook, point to New on the File menu, and then tap Appointment.
  6. Tap a blank space in the body of the appointment.
  7. On the Edit menu, tap Paste.
  8. Note that the Paste Options button appears when information is pasted in the appointment.
  9. In Paste Options box, tap Picture. The ink image appears on the Outlook appointment.

Cannot Insert a Second Ink Comment

If you insert an ink comment and it remains active, a new comment balloon does not appear when you try to insert a second ink comment. Instead, the focus is returned to the active ink comment.

To work around this issue, deactivate the first ink comment before you insert a second ink comment.
