Server stops unexpectedly when you use ExIFS to view drive M (329674)

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000

This article was previously published under Q329674

SYMPTOMS

When you are running Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000-based server, if you try to view drive M, the server may stop unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the GFlags utility was used to configure Pool Tagging on the server. The function that the ExIFS driver calls to determine the size of a block of memory returns invalid results when Pool Tagging has been configured. As a result, the ExIFS driver overwrites the end of a buffer and the server stops responding. ExIFS now uses a different function to determine the size of the memory block.
