RESOLUTION

To correctly update the Windows XP Home I386 source, follow these steps:
  1. After you download SP1, go to a command prompt in the folder where you have saved the XPsp1.exe file, and then run the following command: xpsp1.exe -x
  2. When prompted, type the path to where you want the Service Pack expanded. For example: c:\xpsp1
  3. Create a temporary directory on your system, and then copy the contents of the Windows XP Home product CD to that directory. For example: MD C:\INTSP1 XCopy CDROM Drive Letter:\*.* c:\INTSP1 /e
  4. After the copy is complete, change to the directory that contains the SP1 files. For example: CD C:\xpsp1\update
  5. To update the Windows XP Home Source to SP1, type the following command: update.exe -s:c:\INTSP1
You now have a working I386 with SP1 integrated.
