Windows XP Home edition, you may experience either of the following symptoms:
CAUSE If not all the Windows XP Home CD-ROM is present in the
installation share, the update does not complete. You do not receive an error
message.
If the installation share is created by Setup Manager, only
the I386 directory is included from the Windows XP Home CD.
RESOLUTIONTo correctly update the Windows XP Home I386 source, follow
these steps:
- After you download SP1, go to a command prompt in the
folder where you have saved the XPsp1.exe file, and then run the following
command: xpsp1.exe -x
- When prompted, type the path to where you want the Service
Pack expanded. For example: c:\xpsp1
- Create a temporary directory on your system, and then copy
the contents of the Windows XP Home product CD to that directory. For example:
MD C:\INTSP1 XCopy CDROM Drive
Letter:\*.* c:\INTSP1 /e
- After the copy is complete, change to the directory that
contains the SP1 files. For example: CD
C:\xpsp1\update
- To update the Windows XP Home Source to SP1, type the
following command: update.exe -s:c:\INTSP1
You now have a working I386 with SP1 integrated. MORE INFORMATIONREFERENCES
