XCON: Cannot Use Exchange System Manager to Delete SRS From Remote Computer (329606)

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use any of the following methods to delete the SRS from the upgraded servers:

• Log on locally to each upgraded remote server to delete the SRS.
• Give a user at the remote location enough permissions to delete the SRS.
• Use Terminal Services to log on to the remote server, and then manually delete the SRS.

How to Manually Delete SRS

After you upgrade the last Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3 (SP3) computer in your Exchange Server organization to Exchange 2000 Server, follow these steps to manually delete SRS:

NOTE: If you delete SRS and any Exchange Server 5.5 computers still exist in your Exchange Server organization, all directory replication between Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server stops. Microsoft recommends that you do not delete SRS until after you upgrade your whole Exchange Server organization to Exchange 2000 Server.

To manually delete SRS:

1. Log on locally to the Exchange 2000 Server-based computer.
2. In the Exchange System Manager snap-in, use the Active Directory Connector (ADC) snap-in to delete all user connection agreements.
3. After Active Directory replication is completed, delete all directory replication connectors for each SRS:
   1. Start the Exchange Server 5.5 Exchange Server Administrator program, and then connect to the Exchange 2000 Server-based computer.
   2. Expand the Site object, expand the Configuration container, and then click Directory Replication.
   3. Delete each directory replication connector, and then wait for Active Directory replication to occur.
4. In the Exchange System Manager snap-in, expand the Tools container, click Site Replication Services, and then press DELETE.
5. Open the Organization Properties dialog box, and then click Change Mode.
