SUMMARY

Reply e-mail messages or newly composed e-mail messages that are inbound from a third-party X.400 system may generate the following non-delivery report (NDR) :

Delivery status for message :

To : 'Administrator'
Cc :
Subject :
RE: test Date : 09/09/02 15:04 Administrator - Unable to deliver the message to this recipient
Reason : A Transfer failure occurred [0] Diagnostic
Code : One of more arguments within the message are invalid [11]

The originator of the message does not receive the NDR.

MORE INFORMATION

By default, this behavior occurs with messages that have invalid X.400 fields. For example, this behavior may occur if the UTC time that is specified in the Internal Trace Information ArrivalTime field from the originating message transfer agent (MTA) or the intermediate MTA is a four-byte year value. The 1984 and 1988 X.400 recommendations do not support a four-byte year representation in UTC time. A two-byte year value is required.
