This article was previously published under Q329568 SYMPTOMS When you run a program on a Microsoft Windows XP-based
computer, the program window may be black (or empty),
or you may receive an "Access violation" error message. CAUSE This issue may occur if both of the following conditions
are true:
- You are using an original released version of Microsoft
Windows XP, and you have not installed any Windows XP service packs.
- You run a program that was intended for a computer that is
much slower than the computer that you are currently
using.
RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
