PRB: You Cannot Send a HTTP Message from Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 if Windows Server 2003 Has an International Name (329547)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Message Queuing 3.0

This article was previously published under Q329547

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Windows XP Professional computers encode international computer names into UTF-8 so that Internet Information Services (IIS) can handle them. Because of recent changes in IIS, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 computers with international names reject messages with the hostname encoded into UTF-8.

RESOLUTION

MSMQ 3.0 does not encode international host computer names. MSMQ 3.0 leaves the international host computer names as UNICODE. There is no hotfix for this issue.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
