PRB: Application Center 2000 Always Replicates IIS Site Bindings (329520)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Application Center 2000
  • Microsoft Application Center 2000 SP1
  • Microsoft Application Center 2000 SP2

This article was previously published under Q329520

SYMPTOMS

Regardless of what you selected for load balancing when you created the cluster, Application Center 2000 synchronizes all IP address bindings for all Web sites, including No Load balancing.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because it is impossible for Application Center 2000 to determine which IP address bindings are member-specific and whichbindings are cluster-wide settings. Therefore, all Web site bindings are replicated.

RESOLUTION

If your Web sites have different IP address bindings on each server, add all settings for all Web sites on each member to the cluster controller.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install Application Center 2000 on two servers (for example, server A and server B).
  2. On both servers, bind the default Web site to the IP address of server A.
  3. On server B, create a cluster with the No load balancing option.
  4. Add server A to the cluster.

Notice that the cluster member has its default Web site bound to the IP address of the cluster controller.
