SYMPTOMS

When you try to compose a new message in Microsoft Outlook after you set Word 2002 as your default editor for e-mail messages, you may receive the following error message:
This form requires Word as your e-mail editor, but Word is either busy or cannot be found. The form will be opened in the Outlook editor instead.
Your new message then opens in the Outlook editor.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Symantec Norton AntiVirus program is installed on your computer, and the Norton AntiVirus plug-in for Microsoft Office (Officeav.dll) is preventing you from using Word 2002 as the default e-mail editor.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, visit the following Symantec Web site to obtain an updated version of Norton AntiVirus or to receive help with the reconfiguration of Norton AntiVirus:
