FTP NAT Editor Does Not Translate Port Command When Receiving Client Commands from Intel NAT (329345)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP1
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP2
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP3

This article was previously published under Q329345

SYMPTOMS

When an Intel Express router passes a command to a Microsoft Windows 2000 File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Network Address Translation (NAT) server, the command is not translated correctly, so the command is passed to the Windows 2000 FTP server without first being translated.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the FTP NAT editor on the Intel router places a zero (0) in the first octet of the address field. This causes the octet to have more than three characters. In Windows 2000 NAT, each octet can only be three characters long.
