The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server
This article was previously published under Q329225 SYMPTOMSWhen you run Exchange 2000 Server Setup on a computer in a
mixed Exchange 5.5 Server and Exchange 2000 Server environment, you may receive
the following error message: Microsoft Exchange 2000
Installation Wizard Setup failed while installing sub-component Platinum
Osmium Synchronizer with error code 0xC103798A. (Please consult the
installation logs for a detailed description).
You may cancel the
installation or try the failed step again. You may also
receive an entry that is similar to the following in the Active Directory
Connector.log file, where UserName is the name of a
user who no longer exists in the Exchange 5.5 Server directory
database: [16:04:12] (2147491681) LDAP search result on
directory ServerName for entry
'cn=UserName,cn=Recipients,ou=OrganizationNameo=SiteName'
was unsuccessful with error:[0x1] Operations Error. (Connection Agreement
'Config CA_Corporate_MAIL' #2192) CAUSEThis problem may occur if all the following conditions
exist:
- You install Exchange 2000 Server on a computer in a domain
in which an Exchange 5.5 Server-based computer already exists.
- Setup incorrectly detects a user account that was
previously deleted from the Exchange 5.5 Server directory database.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, re-create the user account that
is referenced in the Active Directory Connector.log file on the Exchange 5.5
Server computer, and then run Exchange 2000 Server Setup.STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
