XCCC: Error When You Open a Message with a POP3 E-Mail Client (329168)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to read an e-mail message by using a POP3 e-mail client, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Message number # could not be retrieved. Account: IP Address, Server: IP Address, Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR The system cannot find the path specified.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD
Also, the following error messages may appear in the Application Event log on the Exchange 2000 Server-based computer:

Description:

When you try to copy the message in the Exchange drive M, you may receive the following error message:
Error copying file or folder.
Cannot copy filename.
Cannot find the specified file.
Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the message cannot be rendered into the RFC822 standard for Internet text messages.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a MAPI e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Web Access (OWA) to read the messages.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
