This article was previously published under Q329121 SYMPTOMS When you try to install any of the Windows products that
are listed at the beginning of this article, if you click Yes, download
the updated setup file (Recommended) during Windows Setup to run the
Dynamic Update feature, Dynamic Update may not download the necessary drivers
and fixes. Additionally, a 12029 error (ERROR_INTERNET_CANNOT_CONNECT) may be
added to your Setuperr.log file. CAUSE This problem occurs because of a new implementation of
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) in the Dynamic Update feature. It occurs if all the
following conditions are true:
- You try to upgrade a Microsoft Windows 95-based computer to
one of the products listed at the beginning of this article.
- The Windows 95-based computer is running a version of
Microsoft Internet Explorer that is earlier than version 5.0.
- You start Windows Setup by running Winnt32.exe.
