SYMPTOMS

When your computer that is running Windows 2000 is charging the battery, the CPU Usage meter in Task Manager may indicate 100 percent CPU utilization.

Note To view the CPU Usage meter, press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and then view Task Manager.

CAUSE

This problem may occur in certain cases after you install the fix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
