Some Pocket PC devices may stop responding when you try to open a workbook in Pocket Excel (329088)

SYMPTOMS

Some Pocket PC mobile devices may stop responding when you open a Microsoft Pocket Excel workbook. This problem occurs if the storage device that contains the workbook is no longer available.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the File Explorer data is not refreshed when a storage card is removed from the Pocket PC device.

This behavior occurs on devices that have one of the following storage configurations:
  • The device uses two file storage systems.
  • The device uses multiple storage cards.
  • The device uses nonvolatile storage schemes.
Note Microsoft Pocket Word does not exhibit the same behavior.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
