SYMPTOMS

When you send an e-mail message to an Instant Messenger user, the e-mail address for the instant message may include both a child name and the root domain name. The e-mail address is formatted as

username@childDomain.mainDomain.com

, where username is the Instant Messenger user name, childDomain is the child domain the Instant Messenger user is a member of, and mainDomain is the main Exchange 2000 Server domain.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
