SYMPTOMS

When an Active Server Pages (ASP) session is abandoned by calling the Session.Abandon method, or when an ASP session reaches the configured session timeout value, later calls to the Server.CreateObject method on separate ASP pages may fail. One of the following errors may cause the later calls to fail:
  • 0x80070bed
  • 0x800706be
When this problem occurs, the following event is logged in the Security log of the server that is hosting the COM+ application: Source: Security
Type: Logon/Logoff
Event ID: 529
Description: Logon Failure
Reason: Unknown user name or bad password
User Name: IWAM_WEBSERVER
Domain: WebServer
Logon Type: 3
Logon Process: NtLmSsp
Authentication Package: NTLM
Workstation Name: WebServer

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you store a remote COM+ object in a session variable.

RESOLUTION
