SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Small Business Server (SBS) 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) by using the Web download, you may receive the following error message:
Service Pack 1 (SP1) setup requires 5 MB of disk space on the drive containing the program files directory. Delete unnecessary files to free up disk space, and then run SP1 setup again.
The error message may appear although the drive that contains the Program Files folder has more than 5 megabytes (MB) of free disk space.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the drive that contains the Program Files folder has less than 170 MB of free disk space.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
