SYMPTOMS

If you change printer settings and then log off, your profile may not be unloaded. When this problem occurs, the following error message is recorded in the Userenv log:
USERENV(c0.bc) 07:57:11:396 MyRegUnLoadKey: Hive unload for S-1-5-21-1202660629-1935655697-1957994488-1000 failed due to open registry key.
Windows will try unloading the registry hive once a second for the next 60 seconds (max).
USERENV(c0.bc) 07:58:12:443 MyRegUnLoadKey: Windows was not able to unload the registry hive.
USERENV(c0.bc) 07:58:12:463 MyRegUnLoadKey: Failed to unmount hive 5
USERENV(c0.bc) 07:58:12:483 MyRegUnloadKey: Mutex released. Returning 0
USERENV(c0.bc) 07:58:12:503 UnloadUserProfile: Didn't unload user profile err = 5

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a handle leak in Shlwapi32.dll.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
