XFOR: Outbound Internet Mail May Disappear After You Apply Exchange Server 5.5 SP4 (327500)

After you apply Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4 (SP4) on servers that are running the Exchange Server Internet Mail Service, messages that are sent to external Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) domains may seem to disappear. Inbound SMTP mail is not affected.
Message tracking may show that the message was delivered to the information store, but no additional tracking data. Message archival also shows that no messages were sent outbound.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Apply the post-Exchange Server 5.5 SP4 Information Store fix roll-up.

- Shut down the Exchange Server computer, and then restart it.
