SYMPTOMS

In Excel 2002, if you split the Excel window into two or more panes, and then try to type a character with an acute accent, the active cell changes to another pane and the accent is typed in the wrong cell.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use the English version of Excel 2002 and the Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack for French together.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and install the Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Multilingual User Interface Pack. For additional information about how to do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
