SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows Media Player on your computer with multiple monitors, the control buttons may be unavailable. This symptom may also occur with Microsoft Front Page Express.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if your primary monitor is set to use "High Color (16 bit)" and the secondary monitor has different settings such as 256 colors or "True Color (32 bit)".

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, set both of your adapters to the same color depth.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
