SYMPTOMS

After you deploy a hotfix to Esent.dll, either directly or from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site, your Czech, Slovak, and Turkish Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack installations may show a program problem in Services.exe (event ID 1000).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, delete the C:\Windows\Mui\Fallback\Language_ID\Scesrv.dll.mui file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows XP Service Pack 1.
