NSLOOKUP Does Not Use the Suffix Search List Set by a Policy (327361)

SYMPTOMS

When you use NSLOOKUP and only query with a host name, the suffix search list that was set by using a policy may not be used.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if NSLOOKUP does not check the registry for the suffix search list that was set by using a policy.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
