WMS Unicast HTTP Distribution May Disconnect Clients (327122)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Media Services 4.1
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000
This article was previously published under Q327122 SYMPTOMS
When you set up a HTTP Unicast Distribution chain, some clients that are connected to the edge servers may either be disconnected or go into a "waiting" state.
CAUSE
When the allocation of a socket fails, the server does not reset the socket state and the server closes the socket. As part of the cleanup mechanism, the socket is closed again, but because it has already been reallocated to a valid client, the valid client is disconnected.
