The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2000
- Microsoft Outlook 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1)
This article was previously published under Q327074 SYMPTOMS
If you view a Web page that uses the Microsoft Outlook View Control to display the contents of a mailbox, select a message that appears in the Outlook View Control, and then press the DELETE key on your keyboard, the message is not deleted. Instead, the currently selected message (or messages) in Outlook 2000 is deleted.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Microsoft Outlook View Control was not designed for use outside the Microsoft Outlook program itself. As a result, unexpected behavior (in this case, the incorrect deletion of messages in Outlook 2000) can occur when you use the Outlook View Control in this way.
RESOLUTION
Use one of the following methods to resolve this problem:
- Upgrade to Microsoft Outlook 2002, included with Microsoft Office XP. This problem does not occur in Microsoft Outlook 2002.
-or-
- If you want to delete a message in the Outlook View Control, do not press the DELETE key. Instead, right-click the message, and then click Delete. If you use this method to delete the message, the correct message is deleted.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
