XADM: "Error 0x800cc810" Error Message When You Install Exchange 2000 Server (327017)

If you try to upgrade Microsoft Small Business Server 4.5 to Microsoft Small Business Server 2000, the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server portion of Setup may fail, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
CComExchSetupComponent::Install (N:\Admin\Src\Udog\BO\Comboifaces.cxx:814)
Error code 0X800CC810 (51216): An unknown error has occurred.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) metabase is damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, remove and reinstall IIS, apply the latest Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack (or reapply the Service Pack if it is already installed on the computer), and then run Setup. To do so, follow these steps.
NOTE: You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group to perform the following procedures.
Step 1: Remove IIS- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click
Add/Remove Windows Components.
- In the Windows Components Wizard, click to clear the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box, and then click Next.
- On the Completing the Windows Components Wizard page, click Finish.
- In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Close.
- Restart the computer.
Step 2: Install IIS- Insert the Microsoft Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent it from starting automatically.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click
Add/Remove Windows Components.
- In the Windows Components Wizard, click to select the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box, and then click Next.
- On the Completing the Windows Components Wizard page, click Finish.
- In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click Close.
- Restart the computer.

Step 4: Run Small Business Server 2000 Setup
Insert the Small Business Server 2000 CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then run Setup.
