SYMPTOMS

When you use InterOrg Replication Utility to replicate public folders that are Microsoft Outlook special folder types such as Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Journal, or Notes, the destination folder may replicate as a regular mail folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, before you start replication, create a corresponding public folder in the destination organization that has the same folder type as the source. Then use Exscfg.exe to create an Exscfg configuration file that links the source folders and the destination folders for bidirectional replication.

How to Use Outlook to Create a Public Folder of a Special Type

NOTE: To create a folder, you must have Create permissions to the top level public folders.
  1. In Outlook, click View, and then click Folder List to open the complete folder list pane.
  2. Expand Public Folders.
  3. Right-click All Public Folders, and then click New Folder.
  4. In the Create New Folder dialog box, type the name of the source folder in the Name box.
  5. Click the appropriate folder type in the Folder Contains box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Continue configuration of InterOrg Replication Utility.
