Msinfo32.exe or Winmsd.exe causes Userenv event ID 1000 in Windows 2000 (326912)

SYMPTOMS

The following Userenv event ID 1000 message may be logged in the Application log if you run Msinfo32.exe or Winmsd.exe, save the system information to a file, and then log off: Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. Build number ((2195))When this event occurs, the user profile cannot unload the settings or save the settings.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

The hotfix is required if your system has Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 installed and the current version of Ieinfo5.ocx is earlier than the version that is listed in this hotfix. This is because Internet Explorer 6 is included with the same file as Microsoft Windows 2000.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Internet Explorer service pack that contains this hotfix.
