BUG: Pocket PC "Error Copying File" After You Delete a Large File (326861)

SYMPTOMS

After you delete a large file from memory, subsequent tries to copy a large file to memory may return the following error message:
Error Copying File
Cannot create or replace '<filename>'. No storage memory available. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Memory to view your memory usage and free space. Or, delete some items from your device.
This error may only appear after a repeated sequence when you copy, delete, and then recopy files.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
Perform a soft reset of the Pocket PC device. After the soft reset, you can again copy large files to memory. Read your Pocket PC user guide for the specific reset procedure for the model of your Pocket PC device.
Note: This behavior is not reproduceable on Pocket PC 2003 devices.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

Note This behavior does not occur on all Pocket PC 2002 devices. It occurs only on certain models.
  1. In File Explorer, view Storage Card, and then copy a large file (one that is more than 20-MB) from the card.
  2. Paste the file that you copied in step 1 to the \My Device\Temp folder.
  3. When the copy completes, delete the file from the Temp folder.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 between two and five times.
