SYMPTOMS

Active Directory replication does not succeed after you run ForestPrep on a Windows 2000 Server-based computer that is a domain controller.

You may receive an error message similar to the following:
The replication operation encountered a database error.
When you view your system log, you see multiple events similar to the following:

Description:
Replication error: The directory replication agent (DRA) couldn't update object CN=HHSCRC,OU=HPSComputers,DC=hpstech,DC=net (GUID b0e138b4-4e70-4950-b91b-3e04d345cd1f) on this system with changes which have been received from source server fac55224-3750-4040-98d0-c66c30deea85._msdcs.hpstech.net. An error occurred during the application of the changes to the directory database on this system.

The checkpoint with the PDC was unsuccessful. The checkpointing process will be retried again in four hours. A full synchronization of the security database to downlevel domain controllers may take place if this machine is promoted to be the PDC before the next successful checkpoint.
