DOC: Foreign Characters in Channel Names Create Problems When You Create Links (326784)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 SP1
This article was previously published under Q326784 SUMMARY
The property name of a Content Management Server (CMS) 2001 channel or posting cannot contain any character that is not in the set of characters that are used in the English language (US-ASCII). If you want to use non-English characters when you name channels and postings, Microsoft recommends that you use the Display Name property.
Note that this recommendation is more stringent than the recommendation in the "Conventions for naming and using channels" topic on page 16 of the CMS 2001 Site Administrator's Guide.
MORE INFORMATION
This applies to both the CMS 2001 user interface and the CMS 2001 Active Server Pages (ASP) libraries (channel.Name and channel.DisplayName).
