PRB: Data Types of Some Properties May Be Missing in Product Definition (326754)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
This article was previously published under Q326754 SYMPTOMS
The data types of some properties may be missing in Product Definition and other areas because these data types may not be supported by the Business Desk (BizDesk) User Interface, although these data types are supported in Microsoft SQL Server.
When you try to use a property in a product definition (for example, as a variant property) that has a data type that is not supported, BizDesk does not render controls for this property. Although you set the property so that you can edit it, and BizDesk lists the property in the dynamic table for variant properties in Product Editor, the property does not appear below the table. Therefore, you cannot edit it.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because some data types are not exposed through BizDesk.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, if you want to continue to use the data type (so that the data can be edited or managed), you must extend the BizDesk.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
