SYMPTOMS

The first time you restart your computer after you install Windows XP Service Pack 1, you may receive the following error message:
Advanced INF Install Message:
%REMOVE_NODIR_ERROR%
If you click OK, your computer works correctly.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have removed Windows Messenger by editing the Sysoc.inf file.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, click OK. Note that you can safely ignore this error message.

You may have edited the Sysoc.inf file to make Windows Messenger appear in the Add or Remove Programs list. Removing Windows Messenger in this manner has not been tested and is not supported by Microsoft. Other components of Windows XP are dependent on the Messenger files.
