BUG: Pocket PC Batteries Are Drained and Data Is Lost Because of the High Power Use Functions (326627)

SYMPTOMS

If a Pocket PC device is set to perform functions that require high power use (for example, synchronizing continuously over a wireless connection), the device may not shut down automatically before exhausing the batteries.

If you do not shut down a Pocket PC device,data may be lost.

CAUSE

To prevent potential data loss, the Pocket PC operating system is designed to turn off when a certain power level is reached. However, some functions may override the built-in safety settings.

RESOLUTION

To avoid data loss, perform functions that use a lot of power, only when connected to the power supply, or set the device to end the function after a specified period of time.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
