"MSMQServer Setup Failure" Error Message If You Install Microsoft Message Queuing on an Active Directory Domain Controller (326597)

This article was previously published under Q326597 SYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Message Queuing on an Active Directory domain controller, you receive the following error
message: MSMQServer Setup Failure / Unable to create the
MSMQ configuration object in Active Directory. Error code
0x80005000 CAUSEThis problem occurs if the domain controller organizational
unit name has a forward slash mark (/).RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, remove all the forward slash marks
from the Active Directory organizational unit name. Message Queuing
is installed on the domain controller that belongs to the organizational unit.
To rename an organizational unit, follow these steps:
- On the taskbar, click Start, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Expand Domain Controllers.
- Right-click OU, and then click
Rename.
- Modify the existing name by deleting the forward slash
mark. For example, if the current name is MSMQ/TEST,
then change the name to MSMQ-TEST.
