SYMPTOMS

If you update the source files of a package, and then the Systems Management Server (SMS) Distribution Manager tries to update the compressed package at the same time that the sender is sending the compressed package to child sites, the updated source files of the package do not reach the distribution points on the child sites. However, the distribution points on the parent site are updated.

NOTE: The following information is recorded in the Distmgr.log file:

Cannot delete the stored package file \\H509\SMS_CPSD$\CCC00001.PCK. Win32 error = 32 $$<SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER>

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
  • Force an update to all distribution points of the package (make sure that the sender is not sending the package at the same time).

  • Wait until the sender has finished sending the package to all destined sites in the hierarchy before you update the package source files.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
