XADM: White Paper - Using Microsoft Exchange Server Load Simulator 2000 (326057)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q326057 SUMMARY The speed with which you can work over your network depends
in part on how your server responds to mail loads. Exchange Server Load
Simulator 2000 (LoadSim2000) is a benchmarking tool that was designed to test
the response of servers to mail loads. You can use LoadSim2000 to simulate the
delivery of multiple Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) client
messaging requests to a server that is running Exchange 2000. To do so, you can
run LoadSim tests on client computers. These tests send multiple messaging
requests to the Exchange computer, which causes a mail load. After
the tests are complete, you can use the results to:
- Calculate the client response time when the server is
experiencing mail loads.
- Calculate the realistic number of users for each
server.
- Identify bottlenecks on the server.
This white paper provides detailed descriptions and procedural
information about how you can use LoadSim2000 to perform load tests on a server
that is running Exchange to enhance performance and reliability. Included in This White Paper- Improvements to Loadsim for Exchange 2000
- Configuring LoadSim2000 on a Client Computer
- Creating and Running the LoadSim Test on a Client
Computer
- Understanding LoadSim2000 Tasks
- Understanding LoadSim2000 Log Files
- Consolidating System Monitor Data
- Analyzing Data from LoadSim and System Monitor
