OL2000: You Can Search Restricted Drives and Folders with Advanced Find Feature (326055)

When you use the Advanced Find feature in Microsoft Outlook 2000, you may be able to view drives and folders that you do not have permission to view. You can view these drives and folders with Advanced Find, even though you do not have permission to view them in Windows Explorer. This problem occurs if you click Files in the Look For list in the Advanced Find dialog box, and then click Browse.
You can view the folder structure of the drive where your profile resides. You can search any folder that is listed, whether or not you have permission to view that folder in Windows Explorer.

Microsoft Windows operating systems have system policies that can restrict access to selected drives. The policies are Hide these specified drives in My Computer Properties and Prevent access to drives from My Computer.
When these policies are enabled, you cannot view the restricted drives in Windows Explorer. However, the Advanced Find feature of Outlook 2000 does not follow these policies when you use it to search files.
