The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server
This article was previously published under Q326054 SUMMARY
This article describes how to adjust the Microsoft Exchange Load Simulator 2000 (LoadSim2000) task frequency settings to simulate a user profile.
Matching User Profiles with LoadSim
Microsoft recommends that you modify the task frequency settings in the LoadSim2000 program when you use LoadSim2000 to customize simulated user activity. By changing the frequency values for tasks such as Browse Mail, you can modify the usage of the Exchange 2000 Server computer to closely match the activities of the planned users. Users with higher frequency usage patterns can be configured with higher frequency settings for each of the simulated tasks, and lower frequency users can be configured with lower frequency settings.
How to Customize User Task Frequencies
To customize the frequency of simulated tasks, follow these steps:
- Start LoadSim2000.
- On the Configuration menu, click Test Properties.
- Click Add to add a user group.
- In the First user box, select or type the number that you want assigned to the first user. For example, type 1.
- In the Number of users box, select or type the number of users that you want in this group. For example, type 200.
- In the User type list, click the type of user that you want to configure. For example, click Medium.
- Click OK, and then click Customize.
- In the list of tasks, enable the tasks that you want by clicking the task in the Enabled column, and then clicking Enable/Disable task.
- When you completed the process of enabling and disabling tasks, click Edit Tasks.
- Click the tab of the task whose frequency you want to edit. For example, click the Browse Mail tab.
- Under Frequency, type the number of times that you want this user group to perform this task during the simulated daytime period. For example, type 47.
- When you have completed the process of editing the frequency settings of the enabled tasks, click OK.
- Click OK, and then click OK to close the Test Properties dialog box.
